Overcomming Sports Performance Anxiety
Early Innings – How Sports Contributes to the Making of a Community
Early Innings is more than just a baseball film. This short baseball movie speaks of the commonality of baseball regardless of age, the size of your town or how you were introduced to the game of baseball. As you watch this film you can feel the sincerity of people and how a sport from a Babe Ruth baseball team to high school baseball, softball, football or basketball team, to a semi pro sports organization contribute to the making of a small town. Burlington Iowa the home of the Burlington Bees, like Pleasant Hill, Oregon and our surrounding communities of Creswell, Lowell, Dexter, Oakridge, Jasper and Cottage Grove is a small community. As you watch this film you will feel the pride of the community as the film speaks of the dreams and goals of many young ball players whose goal it is to make it to the major leagues as a player, coach, manager or umpire and to the people of the community that have pride in their baseball team.
The Burlington Bees are located in Burlington, Iowa a town of 26,000 the smallest town in the country with a minor league baseball team. This is a wonderful short film for kids, young adults and older adults alike. A big thanks goes out to Rod Blackhurst for allowing Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth Baseball to show this film. As you watch it think of the many ways high school and youth sports is important sports to the community of Pleasant Hill and how we must find ways to continue and grow our high school and younger sports programs.
Youth Baseball Pitcher Born With One Hand
Sam Kuhnert is a youth that was born without a left hand. While many of us would let the loss of a limb hold us back Sam loves to play sports and is a pitcher for his high school baseball team. Next year Sam will be playing baseball for Greenville College. In Sam’s spare time he volunteers at Camp No Limits where he teaches sports to other kids that have lost a limb. Each of us can learn an important lesson from kids like Sam, for he demonstrates that our limits are limited to the work we are willing to put into overcoming the challenges that we may face.
