The Pleasant Hill Running Billies started off Sunday morning with a 3-0 record and won against the Thurston Colts XL. In the afternoon PHBR lost to the JC Red Sox resulting in a Game for 3rd or 4th against Sheldon Irish LL who had lost against the WVBR All-Stars.

At the bottom of the 4th the Billies were down 8-1. Like the team that they are they pulled themselves back together and fought like Marines using every technique they had practiced so hard and kept their head in the game.

Coaching Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth T-Ball

baseball 23 17 14 3 300x200 Coaching Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth T BallFor many of us Pleasant Hill Cal Ripken – Babe Ruth and other youth league parents and grandparents T-ball has to be the most fun game to watch. Now don’t get me wrong the older kids are fun to watch too but where else but t-ball will you find a player getting excited when tagged out, throwing a ball at a player to put them out, dancing on first base, wanting to keep on running even after making it to home, or just rolling in the grass for the fun of rolling.

Oh sure I have enjoyed watching my grandsons baseball skill and knowledge increase during these past 6 years and yet when I look back on his T-ball days I have so many memories that still put a smile on this old face.

What we so often overlook when thinking about T-ball or older youth teams are the coaches. Dedicated coaches such as T-Ball Navy coach Jason Barber seen in the photograph above. These coaches put hours of time and countless patients into teaching baseball and team participation skills to our youth.

The next time you are at a baseball practice or game or at the super market and see one of our Babe Ruth or Cal Ripken coaches take a minute to say thank you. Just think of what baseball would be like if we did not have these dedicated coaches to teach our sons and daughters the game of baseball.

The grass is green, the trees are green and our youth baseball players love to play in the mud. Can you think of a more fun game for a kid than sliding in the mud and not getting into trouble?

Our players know that hitting, catching, sliding, fielding and keeping their head in the game can make the difference between a win and a loss. Sure, we may not always get it right but the effort is there.

Pleasant Hill T-Ball Gold and Navy a Winning Combination

Pleasant hill t ball 300x199 Pleasant Hill T Ball Gold and Navy a Winning CombinationPleasant Hill Gold T-Ball v. Pleasant Hill Navy T-Ball, the winner Pleasant Hill of course. It is hard to think of a game of baseball that is more fun to watch than a game of  T-Ball or Tee Ball the spelling is your choice.

To me T-Ball is more than just a game of baseball. T-Ball is the grins, giggles and laughs of boys and girls as they play one of their first games of baseball. T-Ball is the smiles, cheers and applause of parents and other spectators as they watch the game.

There are missed balls and knocked over Tees. There are missed bases, there are home runs made by boys and girls that keep on running as a player on the opposing team holds on to the ball or throws the ball in the wrong direction. It is hard to resist playing in that dirt or spinning in excitement. So much fun and so many distractions and yet T-Ball is a family game that is enjoyed by kids and parents alike.

Players sometimes lose track of the game as they draw pictures on the infield, roll in the grass or dance because they hit the ball off the Tee and yet with every game or practice they learn more about baseball and participating as a team. This is Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth – Cal Ripken T-Ball and the players you are watching today are our stars of the future. Sure they are just having fun now but time flies by fast when you are having fun. In a year or two the T-Ball player you see today will be playing Babe Ruth – Cal Ripken baseball. A short time later they may just be that high school or college baseball star. And yes, you just might be looking at a future big league player so maybe you need to start collecting your autographs now.

Congratulations Pleasant Hill T-Ball Gold and T-Ball Navy you have some great baseball players in trainin

Pleasant Hill T-Ball Shows Off For Mothers

Sunday May 16, 2010 was not just another Mothers Day for the Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth – Cal Ripken T-Ball Navy team. This was a day when these young baseball players had an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to their Mothers, Grandmothers, and other family members and friends. As I watched Pleasant Hill T-Ball players play Thurston T-Ball players in a fun and exciting game it brought back many wonderful memories of when my own grandson now a Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth AAA baseball player was hitting balls off the tee and running bases with glee.

Below is a wonderful Tee-Ball poem from Seniors-Site.com that I thought you might enjoy.

Pleasant Hill Oregon tee ball v. Thurston tee ball Pleasant Hill T Ball Shows Off For MothersT-Ball is a fun type game.
It even has a funny name.
It’s played by pros, of little fame,
By little folks, who love the game.

They’re only five,
To seven years old.
They may seem awkward,
But very bold.

They aren’t afraid,
To catch a fly.
They try real hard,
As it flies by.

It just may take,
Three or four with grace.
To get the baseball,
And throw it anyplace.

And when they bat off—
Of the tee.
It’s the high point of,
The folks so wee.

There’s boys and girls,
All colors and sizes.
They don’t care,
So why should we.

They’re having fun,
With a glove, bat and ball.
That’s an American game,
It’s called T-Ball.

Enthusiastic Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth AA takes on AAA Navy

Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth AA and AAA Navy Enthusiastic Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth AA takes on AAA Navy An enthusiastic Pleasant Hill Babe Ruth AA team took on Pleasant Hill AAA Navy team in one of the most exciting games of the season. In a sea of Blue and Gold held on one of the Pleasant Hill Middle school fields it was sometimes hard for the fans to tell which team was which. Since both teams are Pleasant Hill teams you found family and friends rooting for players on both teams and the one thing assured was that the Billie’s would win regardless of which team won.  For those that may be reading this that are not from Pleasant Hill most of our games are held at the Willamette Valley Babe Ruth complex in Eugene, Oregon and against teams from other school districts. Oh, by the way this April 18, 2010 game ended with a slim 1 point lead by AAA Navy in the bottom of the 6th inning.
